China’s first freight train to the UK

There’s good news for UK buyers who import goods from China that a direct cargo train service was launched from Yiwu to London recently, as a part project of its One-Belt-One-Road scheme.
The first freight train departed from Yiwu West Station in 1st, Jan., 2017, and rolled into London Barking Station in 18th January, 2017, more than two weeks after it left the Chinese port city of Yiwu. The train traveled for about 18 days and the journey covered nearly 8,000 miles.
The train was packed with 34 containers carrying clothes, shoes, suitcases and other goods that made in China. It will run as a weekly service, similar to trains from China to Germany and Spain.
During the trip, the train’s locomotives have to be changed due to different railway gauges in the countries it passes through.
The opening of Yiwu-London train will definitely improve trade ties between China and U.K.
